BOARDING

Key Benefits:

There are some advantages to boarding in a home situation
if for whatever reason your dog can't stay at home.

1. The dog is in a more social setting where they can play
with other dogs.

2. It is more of a routine that they are used to with people
being around most of the time.

3. They are more comfortable than in a vet office situation
because they are allowed the freedom to run and play in the
fenced yard. Small dogs are especially happy with this kind
of situation. they get to smell dinner cooking and
depending on different things can sleep on the bed as they
do at home.

4. Large dogs do well because they are in an
indoor/outdoor kennel and are allowed to play in a fenced
yard if they like other dogs they also get to socialize.

I will say here that not all dogs are suited to this kind of
situation and sometimes boarding at the vet is the only
solution, dogs that are aggressive toward other dogs or if
they are hardcore escape artists might do better boarding in a vet's
office.

This is one reason why I highly recommend you and your dog come for a visit before you leave them I find it is less stressful for the dog to see where he/she will be staying and meet the people who live here as well as other dogs who may be here when they come.  Boarding can be a stressful time for any dog but the stress is much reduced when they get to come and sniff the yard and the house or the kennel if that is where they are going to stay  and if they are truly nervous about staying i will have you leave them for a couple of hours so that they know you will be back.  When they have a good time the first time they stay they will be anxious to come back to play with their friends.  We try to make their stay as comfortable, fun  and as close to home as possible.  Boarding is sometimes the best option and sometimes it isn't
